    Roles—

    • We are in need of strong singer-actors who enjoy rehearsing and performing with a company that prides itself with a sense of family and professionalism. All principal and ensemble roles are available *except* the roll of Ruth (a Piratical Maiden). A list of the characters and general voice types can be found in the Wikipedia entry on The Pirates of Penzance.

    Rehearsal Period—

    • Starts Monday, December 5, 2011, and generally rehearses Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday nights until opening. Some Saturday rehearsals will be included. Most rehearsals will be in central Sacramento. Email us for more information.

    Show Dates—

    • There are 11 performances in total. Pirates opens Friday, February 10, 2012, and runs for two weekends in Sacramento, one weekend in Davis. All performances are with live orchestra.

    Guidelines—

    • Prepare a short song in English from the light opera or musical theatre repertoire. An accompanist will be provided. Please come prepared to sing the entire selection (one verse only, please, if the song contains multiple verses). We will likely ask you to also do a reading of some of the dialogue as well. Make sure you bring a copy of the sheet music for your selection. If you learn your song from a recording, we strongly recommend that you practice at least once with an accompanist before your audition. A resumé and head-shot are useful if you have them, but aren’t required.
