Auditions

Light Opera Theatre of Sacramento holds open auditions before each major production. Our next production is Iolanthe.

Guidelines for our auditions are as follows:

• Prepare a short song in English from the light opera or musical theatre repertoire. An accompanist will be provided.
• Please come prepared to sing the entire selection. But because of time constraints we may ask that you only sing the first minute or two of the song.
• Make sure you bring a copy of the sheet music for your song. The accompanist appreciates taped pages (accordion-style); please clearly mark any cuts.
• If you learn your song from a CD, we strongly recommend that you practice with an accompanist at least once before the audition.
• Cold readings from the script will be given out at the audition as necessary.
• A resumé and head-shot are useful if you have them, but aren’t necessary.
